Denim – what is it actually?
The term denim originates from the French term “Serge de Nîmes”, that is, serge from Nîmes. Many decades ago in this town in the south of France, they produced the first robust fabric using cotton and hemp fibres. Denim then entered the world stage when Levi Strauss used it to make his first jeans. Denim is made using a twill weave. Traditionally, denim is made using a warp-faced weave where only the warp threads are dyed indigo and the weft threads remain undyed. The blue colour can be lightened up with garment washes and stone washes and nowadays is available in many different varieties. In the past, denim was almost completely made of cotton. We blend a small percentage of synthetic fibres into our denim to make the fabric a little stretchier and more durable.
A fabric for every occasion
Chinos and five-pocket trousers made of denim are an essential basic for your wardrobe. They are great all year round and never go out of fashion. We manufacture denim trousers in different fits, for instance five-pocket trousers. That means trousers that feature the characteristic five-pocket design. The smaller pocket is sewn into one of the two front pockets and is often referred to as a coin pocket. Five-pocket designs are among the most popular trouser designs out there and are also very practical thanks to the abundance of pockets. Try our slim M|5 SKINNY, modern M|5 SLIM and comfortable M|5 REGULAR fits. Combine them with robust boots or fashionable trainers for a casual look. Denim chinos are a more elegant choice, for instance our Chicago, Diego and Bonn models. Pair them with a high-quality shirt and these trousers are even great for the office. Don’t forget to complete your denim look with the right accessory: a belt to match! Our range includes high-quality genuine leather belts in a range of colours and materials.
